A new trip or something like that…
For the last moths I’ve been planning a motorbike trip through North America. Today I finished my route and which will (well, would have) take me through many of the sights like Death Valley, the Grand Canyon past Yellow Stone up to Alaska and from there over to New York and down to Jacksonville.
All together I’ll be riding almost 25000Km in about 100 days.
But yesterday I started to read a book about The Art of Slow Travel from Bhavana Gesota. Be aware of this book because it might give you ideas, like me, which won’t let you sleep. I guess that’s why I’m sitting in my bed at 23:15 and writing this post because I can’t stop thinking about my other next trip.
Well, if it keeps my brain cells humming like this, I will not travel to North America. At least not next year or maybe never.
You see, I’ve chosen a motorbike to travel because I like the experience you only have if you are vulnerable to the elements. Don’t get me wrong I do really like to ride my motorbike but that’s not why I use it to travel. I like travelling itself and I needed something to travel with and with a motorbike you can get to places fairly fast, quite comfortable and you still can experience the world around you directly and not though a air conditioned ‘bubble’.
Anyway, I had my doubts for a while if this is the way I want to carry on travelling!? So, my dilemma started before I picked up this book.
But only a few chapters in I’m seriously thinking about doing it this way. The idea of taking more time to experience a place speaks to me quite strongly.
Well, if I ever get to sleep today (it’s 23:29), I might have the strength tomorrow to think more about this new trip and to let this seed grow in my brain…
