Last things todo and wondering what I forgot

After having to wait an extra week for my car to be ready, I finally picked it up last Friday. That leaves me unfortunately only about week to try everything out and make last changes.

Boy did it feel weird sitting behind a wheel of a car again. My last car I sold about seven or eight years ago and I only driven twice in that time.

A view times I had to remind myself that I'm not on a motorbike and the car kept reminding me when I was trying to accelerate that it wasn't. Let's say she ain't build for speed.

That reminds me, I still need a name for her.

Because of some rather old but very fond memories of arriving early in the morning in the UK and driving onto an almost empty road, I decided to drive at night and take a ferry at 04:50 in the morning. I'm really looking forward of rolling from the ferry into the fresh and hopefully dry UK morning.

Because of the price politics, I had decided against a overnight ferry from either Rotterdam or Amsterdam to the UK.

From Amsterdam to Newcastle they wanted 700€ and from Rotterdam to Hull about 500€. Sorry, but that is just a touch too much for me, and with the money I saved I can buy food or stay in a nice B&B once in a while.

I'm aware that not everybody has the luxury to add two or three days to their travel time but luckily I am and I consider myself very fortunate.

Despite all of this, I can't wait for my road-trip to start and being a slave to the road again!
