Oops, it's still growing

Well, I've made up my mind and decided to go backpacking instead of doing an extensive motorbike tour. Right now I find backpacking and the idea of spending more time in one place more appealing then having a sore bum.

But since my mind never stays still, I thought a lot about the slow travelling and where I could go. My first idea is still valid but why not think about other places I could visit?

There are so many places I'd like to go and see -> Australia, South East Asia, North and South America, Island, Greenland, Japan, China... the list goes on.Since I want to be a hundred, I should have enough time to visit most, if not all of them ;)

A friend told me that two weeks in Nepal are enough time to get a feeling for it. Thais would mean that I have more time for other countries. Also, if I want to go to the places I thought of in my last post (e.g. India), I would need to leave earlier to I miss the monsoon season, which lasts from June to September. However, I'm wondering if I like to experience the beginning of it!? I guess it's not gonna piss it down straight from the First of June, right? And if it does, I could easily leave earlier...

At the moment I'm working on my packing list, which only consists of a few things. I'll post my list when it's ready. Maybe somebody in the void of the internet find's it useful.

As a backpack I'll be using a second hand army backpack with 65 litre capacity. It's heavier than those new and fancy ones but it's also way cheaper and more rugged. It's covered with woodland camouflage, so it'll be easier to pick out at the air port, I hope. However, maybe it's easier for others to find me as well!? :D Anyway it only cost me 50€ incl. a rain over and p&p. For packing it self I'll be using packing cubes and water tide bags for important and moisture sensitive stuff. As a sleeping bag I'll also be using a second hand army one which comes with a build in mosquito net. The sleeping bag was more expensive (about 80€) but I got a whole system (summer and winter bag) which, when combined with each other and a Gore-Tex bivvy bag, lasts down to -20 degrees. Well, I won't need that where I'll be going (this time...).

The idea of documenting my trip via this blog (pictures and a maybe some videos) has been there from the beginning. Hopefully, I can actually do what I set myself as a goal. Maybe after the trip I'll do a little magazine I could show to my friends. Damn you Daniel Milnor for putting those idea in my head *joking. He is great!
